Christopher Helland is a sociologist of religion at Dalhousie University whose research focuses on the intersections of religion, digital media, and the internet. His scholarship has contributed significantly to the study of lived religion, popular religion, and new forms of spirituality in online contexts. As one of the pioneering scholars studying online religious activity, he has helped establish the sociology of religion and the internet as a distinct and enduring field of inquiry.
